In summer of 2011, on the heels of the success of 60 Minutes on iPad we developed a unique app with our partner CBS Interactive for 48 Hours, their hit crime show.  I lead the team of developers who built this app and worked closely with CBS Interactive from inception through launch.   Our development team worked hard to make this more than “just another video content app.”  To bring users into the crime scene mood, we added easter eggs on the front door where users could drag the magnifying glass to discover several hidden “clues”.  Throughout the app are fluid and expressive UI elements that we think will surprise and delight users while they explore this collection of true crime stories from CBS.   From a monetization standpoint, we decided to implement a subscription model for 48 Hours on iPad.  This was different from the one time payment model integrated into our 60 Minutes iPad, which cells for $4.99.  We decided that this model would work well because the 48 Hours user base consists of an unusually high number of extremely dedicated users who are willing to come back and pay for each season as it airs.  This also gives us a larger budget to continue to develop new and exciting features for the 48 Hour user base.
